India, the land of diversity, is known for its rich heritage and unique traditions. History

From ancient times when King Alexender stepped into India with Greek culture to the era of the East India Company’s founding in the 16th century – India has witnessed a number of invaders. This richness and diversity in its culture evolved and flourished with the Dravidians, Greeks, Persians, Portuguese, French, Shakas, Kushans, Maurayas, Guptas, Mughals and the British.

The richness of Indian is well described in the excavations of sites belonging to the Harappan era, as well as in our Vedas.

Ancient heritage and first-class attractions

Religion has always played a vital role in the development of India’s culture, architecture, music, dance patterns and even arts and crafts. India has served as the melting pot of various religions and cultures. The royal cities, fortresses and palaces, shrines and gates attract thousands of tourists from all over the world.

Delhi, the capital, is dotted with a number of historical monuments, most of which date back to the Mughal period. Here one can see the beautiful Red Fort, the 13th century Qutab Minar, the beautiful stone observatory Jantar Mantar, the huge Jama Masjid, the Lotus Temple (belonging to the Bahai sect) etc.

Likewise, as another most colorful state, Rajasthan boasts some of the most imposing and magnificent forts and palaces in the world. City Palace, Amer Fort, Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Lake Palace, Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace etc. are a few major monuments built in true Rajput style.

India offers a pleasing diversity and has Buddhist monasteries in the far north (including Ladakh) and the oldest Hindu temples in the south (including the states of Temil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka). Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar and Nalanda are some famous Buddhist pilgrimages while Mahabalipuram, Trivandrum, Guruvayur etc are the most visited Hindu places.
